Tandle Hill protest march

SAVE ROYTON’S GREENBELT FAMILY DEMONSTRATION WALK

SUNDAY 3rd MARCH 2019

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Oldham Council are proposing to build thousands of homes in Thornham, Royton and on land bordering Tandle Hills, stretching down to Middleton & Chadderton. All this land is currently Greenbelt and they are trying to take it away from us.

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US TO LET THE AUTHORITIES KNOW THEY CANNOT STEAL OUR OPEN COUNTRYSIDE.

Our Protest walk will commence from outside THORNHAM ST JAMES’ SCHOOL AT 11AM, opposite HANGING CHADDER, one of the threatened Greenbelt sites. We will be joined by our fellow Shaw group then proceed down Springfield Lane then right onto Rochdale Road and left into THORNHAM OLD ROAD, through another section of threatened Greenbelt. We will continue up Thornham Old Road to meet with our fellow Middleton group, before turning left up to the TANDLE HILL MONUMENT where we will be joined by our Chadderton group.

PRESS & T.V. COVERAGE is arranged for the various sections of our walk, including professional aerial drone footage. The main feature will be when literally THOUSANDS of us come together at the monument. Following this, we will proceed to an area near the Visitor Centre to allow our less mobile residents or people with pushchairs to fully participate.

PLEASE JOIN US, WITH YOUR FAMILY & WELL BEHAVED PETS, ON SUNDAY 3rd MARCH TO SHOW OLDHAM COUNCIL AND GREATER MANCHESTER COUNCIL THAT WE WILL NOT ALLOW THE THEFT OF OUR PRECIOUS LOCAL GREENBELT.
